About Central and Eastern European Studies
The bachelors program in Central and East European Studies is a part of the School of International Relations and Diplomacy. The program provides a multifaceted perspective on the geographical territory of Visegrad in contact and conflict with Eastern Europe, reveals the countries’ identities, historical boundaries and political formations in relation to one another. It also acknowledges social and ethnic groups that inhabit both regions. It offers an interdisciplinary education in Central and East European history, anthropology, politics and security, as well as media, arts, culture and intellectual history.
The program is taught in English with elective discussion seminars in Russian in 14 of the program’s courses. The inclusion of a language component creates opportunities for students to learn a range of Central and East European languages including Czech, German, Polish and Russian.
