9th November, the International Day Against Fascism and Anti-Semitism

On 9th November, the International Day Against Fascism and Anti-Semitism is celebrated. This date marks the pogrom of Kristallnacht: in the night between 9th à 10th November 1938, the Jewish community of Germany and Austria has been attacked by Nazis who burned synagogues and destroyed almost every Jewish shops. This event is usually considered as the symbolic beginning of the Holocaust.

Alexandra e Florian, studenti del progetto Erasmus, intraprendono un road-movie attraverso le strade d'Europa alla ricerca delle discriminazioni che imperversano nella nostra società. Si isirano alla lettura del Diario che una giovane donna ebrea di 27 anni, Etty Hillesum, ha scritto ad Amsterdam tra il 1941 ed il 1943. Etty testimonia una fede indefettibile nell'uomo mentre questi compie i suoi più neri malefatti: "So già tutto", ella scrive, "E tuttavia, considero questa vita bella e ricca di senso. Sempre ". Attraverso il dialogo con le persone che incontrano sulla loro strada ad Amsterdam, Bruxelles, Colonia, Berlino ed Auschwitz, i giovani reporters prendono coscienza dei meccanismi che hanno agito in passato ed ai quali occorre prestare attenzione per non cedere alla paura ed all'odio.
