This date marks the pogrom of Kristallnacht: in the night between 9th à 10th November 1938, the Jewish community of Germany and Austria has been attacked by Nazis who burned synagogues and destroyed almost every Jewish shops. This event is usually considered as the symbolic beginning of the Holocaust.

Se sienten inspirados por la lectura del Diario íntimo que una joven judía de 27 años, Etty Hillesum, redactó en Ámsterdam entre 1941 y 1943. Etty muestra su fe inquebrantable en el Hombre al tiempo que éste cumple su proyecto histórico más macabro: "Ya lo sé todo", escribe.
