We like to work with young, energetic content makers — welcome to SPHERA.

What is SPHERA?

SPHERA is a consortium of independent national and European media delivering inspiring and empowering social media-first content. Our main channels are Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

SPHERA will gather audiences from generation Y and Z in different countries who are interested in European current affairs and debates linked to the topical issues of our times, such as climate change, the future of work, and social inequality.

SPHERA produces community-oriented videos and podcasts—as well as online and offline debates— in a fresh and assertive tone of voice.

What we are looking for

The SPHERA team is looking for young content makers who are eager to collaborate in a cross-border community. More specifically, we are looking for proactive individuals aged 18-30 who can help us produce scripts, photos as well as video- and audio-clips for Sphera’s distinctive 1-minute-long video formats:

voxpop; press-roundups; tiktok-style sketches; explainers.

The aim of this call is to create a roster of content makers, journalists and aspiring journalists from as many different European countries as possible.

All published work will be remunerated at a gross hourly rate of 30,00 Euros. We expect selected freelancers to spend a maximum of 3 hours of work on the production of photos, video- and audio-clips for a given content-format.

We plan to commission work on a recurring basis from selected freelancers.

Your profile

You have a proven track record of good video-making and photography skills. You have experience in mobile journalism– you will need to take pictures and shoot videos with your smartphone. You have experience in audio recording both on-the-ground and remotely. You are a punctual and organised problem solver, able to stay on task and work to tight deadlines. Languages do not intimidate you. You have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in your native language and in English. You are creative and have a clear, dynamic speaking voice. You love to collaborate and share ideas. You are comfortable in front of the camera/smartphone.

Does this sound like you? If so, please send us your CV, social media handles and your portfolio to Martina Di Pirro at [email protected].

We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented in media.
