The first Greek American social network

A new social networking website has been launched to bring Greek Americans closer, in order to socialize. The website is called , and was launched by the US-based National Hellenic Society (NHS) last December. According to Tim Maniatis, the executive director of the NHS, MyParea.com is a free, non-commercial, social networking website that has multiple functions.
Its aim is to spread and preserve the Greek heritage through the use of social media. Greek Americans talk of an ambitious effort to bring their community together. Up to now it has 200 members with a goal to bring together the 3 million Greek Americans of the US. Like other social networking sites, the new MyParea site includes an events calendar and numerous discussion topics about Greek food, wine, travel, music and culture. There is a section titled “My Greek Life” that focuses on the humorous aspects of being Greek. Members are also encouraged to start their own discussions, exchange recipes and travel experiences, share photos and videos. With information from AthensNews
