Last week, Romania’s anti-corruption prosecutor was fired. The country has been experiencing threats to its fight against corruption and its independent legal system for a few years. With mass protests on one hand and political figures changing the penal code to avoid corruption charges on the other, the country has the second highest emigration rate in the world after Syria.
