Babel In­ter­na­tional, the French As­so­ci­a­tion pub­lisher which pub­lishes your favourite Eu­ro­pean Mag­a­zine cafébabel, is hold­ing an Ex­tra­or­di­nary Gen­eral As­sem­bly to elect the new lead­ers and Steer­ing Com­mit­tee mem­bers of Babel In­ter­na­tional in Nice on 23 March 2014.

GEN­ERAL DE­SCRIP­TION OF PO­SI­TIONS OPEN FOR ELEC­TION

PRES­I­DENT |

The Pres­i­dent elect shall inter alia (legally) rep­re­sent and act on be­half of Babel In­ter­na­tional and shall en­sure the ac­tu­al­iza­tion of its statutes and in­ter­nal reg­u­la­tions, safe­guard the moral in­ter­est of the As­so­ci­a­tion and su­per­vise the com­ple­tion of its goals. The Pres­i­dent shall pre­side over meet­ings of the Ex­ec­u­tive Board and ses­sions of the Gen­eral As­sem­bly. In ad­di­tion, the Pres­i­dent shall chair and con­voke ses­sions of the Steer­ing Com­mit­tee, lead their de­lib­er­a­tions and lead and co­or­di­nate its work.

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions/char­ac­ter­is­tics:

* he/she must be com­mit­ted to the mis­sion, val­ues and in­ter­ests of Babel In­ter­na­tional

* he/she has a clear vi­sion for the fu­ture of cafébabel and pro­pos­als to de­velop the as­so­ci­a­tion, net­work and mag­a­zine

* he/she pos­sesses the nec­es­sary lead­er­ship, com­mu­ni­ca­tion and or­ga­ni­za­tional skills

* he/she has a large net­work

VICE-PRES­I­DENT (S) |

The Vice-Pres­i­dent (s) elect shall inter alia as­sist and sup­port the Pres­i­dent in car­ry­ing out its func­tions. The Vice-Pres­i­dent(s) shall, in ab­sence of the Pres­i­dent, carry out any du­ties as­signed to the pres­i­dency.

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions/char­ac­ter­is­tics:

* he/she must be com­mit­ted to the mis­sion, val­ues and in­ter­ests of Babel In­ter­na­tional

* he/she pos­sesses the nec­es­sary lead­er­ship, com­mu­ni­ca­tion and or­ga­ni­za­tional skills

* he/she has a large net­work

SEC­RE­TARY |

The Sec­re­tary elect shall inter alia be re­spon­si­ble for tak­ing min­utes on meet­ings of the As­so­ci­a­tion, dis­patch­ing cer­tifi­cates and en­sur­ing the ful­fil­ment of the statutes and the in­ter­nal reg­u­la­tions of the As­so­ci­a­tion. The sec­re­tary shall val­i­date the res­o­lu­tions adopted in the Steer­ing Com­mit­tee and the Gen­eral As­sem­bly, lift acts of these res­o­lu­tions and con­voke the Gen­eral As­sem­bly as well as es­tab­lish the agenda of the meet­ing. As the focal point of the net­work, the sec­re­tary shall sup­port and coun­cil the mem­ber as­so­ci­a­tions and other forms of or­gan­i­sa­tions and local teams.

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions/char­ac­ter­is­tics:

* he/she must be com­mit­ted to the mis­sion, val­ues and in­ter­ests of Babel In­ter­na­tional

* he/she has the nec­es­sary writ­ing, or­ga­ni­za­tional and tran­scrip­tion skills

* he/she knows well the net­work of cafébabel and has ex­pe­ri­ence with an­i­mat­ing a net­work

TREA­SURER |

The Trea­surer elect shall inter alia ad­vise the Pres­i­dent and gen­eral Del­e­gate on the eco­nomic and ad­min­is­tra­tive ne­go­ti­a­tions, sup­port the es­tab­lish­ment of the fi­nan­cial struc­ture of the As­so­ci­a­tion Babel In­ter­na­tional. The Trea­surer shall carry the doc­u­men­ta­tion, the reg­is­ters and the ac­counts de­manded by law and shall up­date all fis­cal oblig­a­tions of the As­so­ci­a­tions with the ut­most dili­gence. In ad­di­tion, the Trea­surer shall for­mu­late the an­nual bud­get and the an­nual ac­counts and shall pro­vide in­for­ma­tion about the cur­rent state of the funds and ac­counts be­fore the meet­ings of the Gen­eral As­sem­bly and, upon re­quest, be­fore the Steer­ing Com­mit­tee.

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions/char­ac­ter­is­tics

* he/she must be com­mit­ted to the mis­sion, val­ues and in­ter­ests of Babel In­ter­na­tional

* he/she is ca­pa­ble of over­see­ing and mon­i­tor­ing an as­so­ci­a­tion’s bud­get

* he/she equipped to ad­vise on fi­nan­cial strate­gies

* he/she has a good knowl­edge of fi­nan­cial and grant op­por­tu­ni­ties

STEER­ING COM­MIT­TEE COUN­CIL­LORS |

The Steer­ing Com­mit­tee is elected by the Gen­eral As­sem­bly and is formed of a Pres­i­dent, a Sec­re­tary, a Trea­surer and at least 2 but max­i­mum 4 coun­cil­lors. A Vice-Pres­i­dent could be nom­i­nated if the Gen­eral As­sem­bly con­sid­ers it nec­es­sary for the ob­jec­tives of the As­so­ci­a­tion.

The Steer­ing Com­mit­tee gov­erns Babel In­ter­na­tional, its ad­min­is­tra­tion and rep­re­sen­ta­tion in ac­cor­dance with its statutes. The Steer­ing Com­mit­tee coun­cil­lors shall dis­cuss and adopt, mon­i­tor and ex­e­cute an an­nual work­ing plan, adopt in­ter­nal reg­u­la­tion, nom­i­nate the Gen­eral Del­e­gate and su­per­vise its work. In ad­di­tion, they shall as­sist the work of the Pres­i­dent, Trea­surer and Sec­re­tary.

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions/char­ac­ter­is­tics

* the SC coun­cil­lor com­mits to send a rep­re­sen­ta­tive to all meet­ings

* the SC coun­cil­lor has am­bi­tions for the de­vel­op­ment of cafébabel and the strength­en­ing of Babel In­ter­na­tional net­work

* the SC coun­cil­lor brings ex­per­tise or skills that will com­plete the steer­ing Com­mit­tee team

* the SC coun­cil­lor has a good team spirit and ex­pe­ri­ence of col­lab­o­ra­tions
