Over the last thirteen years, Cafébabel has grown into a vast network of local teams in cities all over Europe, a living, breathing network that brings a sense of vitality to the European media landscape.
Now we're looking for new leaders! Come and join our project!

Babel International, the French Association publisher which publishes your favourite European Magazine cafébabel, is holding an Extraordinary General Assembly to elect the new leaders and Steering Committee members of Babel International in Nice on 23 March 2014.
The positions open for elections are:
President
Vice-President
Treasurer
Secretary
Member of the Steering Committee

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONS OPEN FOR ELECTION

PRESIDENT |
The President elect shall inter alia (legally) represent and act on behalf of Babel International and shall ensure the actualization of its statutes and internal regulations, safeguard the moral interest of the Association and supervise the completion of its goals. The President shall preside over meetings of the Executive Board and sessions of the General Assembly. In addition, the President shall chair and convoke sessions of the Steering Committee, lead their deliberations and lead and coordinate its work.
Qualifications/characteristics:
* he/she must be committed to the mission, values and interests of Babel International
* he/she has a clear vision for the future of cafébabel and proposals to develop the association, network and magazine
* he/she possesses the necessary leadership, communication and organizational skills
* he/she has a large network
VICE-PRESIDENT (S) |
The Vice-President (s) elect shall inter alia assist and support the President in carrying out its functions. The Vice-President(s) shall, in absence of the President, carry out any duties assigned to the presidency.
Qualifications/characteristics:
* he/she must be committed to the mission, values and interests of Babel International
* he/she possesses the necessary leadership, communication and organizational skills
* he/she has a large network
SECRETARY |
The Secretary elect shall inter alia be responsible for taking minutes on meetings of the Association, dispatching certificates and ensuring the fulfilment of the statutes and the internal regulations of the Association. The secretary shall validate the resolutions adopted in the Steering Committee and the General Assembly, lift acts of these resolutions and convoke the General Assembly as well as establish the agenda of the meeting. As the focal point of the network, the secretary shall support and council the member associations and other forms of organisations and local teams.
Qualifications/characteristics:
* he/she must be committed to the mission, values and interests of Babel International
* he/she has the necessary writing, organizational and transcription skills
* he/she knows well the network of cafébabel and has experience with animating a network
TREASURER |
The Treasurer elect shall inter alia advise the President and general Delegate on the economic and administrative negotiations, support the establishment of the financial structure of the Association Babel International. The Treasurer shall carry the documentation, the registers and the accounts demanded by law and shall update all fiscal obligations of the Associations with the utmost diligence. In addition, the Treasurer shall formulate the annual budget and the annual accounts and shall provide information about the current state of the funds and accounts before the meetings of the General Assembly and, upon request, before the Steering Committee.

* he/she is capable of overseeing and monitoring an association’s budget
* he/she equipped to advise on financial strategies
* he/she has a good knowledge of financial and grant opportunities
STEERING COMMITTEE COUNCILLORS |
The Steering Committee is elected by the General Assembly and is formed of a President, a Secretary, a Treasurer and at least 2 but maximum 4 councillors. A Vice-President could be nominated if the General Assembly considers it necessary for the objectives of the Association.
The Steering Committee governs Babel International, its administration and representation in accordance with its statutes. The Steering Committee councillors shall discuss and adopt, monitor and execute an annual working plan, adopt internal regulation, nominate the General Delegate and supervise its work. In addition, they shall assist the work of the President, Treasurer and Secretary.
Qualifications/characteristics
* the SC councillor commits to send a representative to all meetings
* the SC councillor has ambitions for the development of cafébabel and the strengthening of Babel International network
* the SC councillor brings expertise or skills that will complete the steering Committee team
* the SC councillor has a good team spirit and experience of collaborations
