As it is getting easier to move from one place to an other in worldwide and give a chance for more and more people to see incomparably beautiful places, most of these unique places are being destroyed.
Let’s have a virtual trip at the four most endangered places! Firstly have some cold: polar bears are one of my favourite animals.
They live at the Arctic Circle and they are one of the world's largest predators: an adult male weighs around 300–680 kg. For many years, unrestricted hunting raised international concern for the future of the species; populations have rebounded after controls and quotas began to take effect. The global warming is also a weak point of their life: ice is melting fast and they get less food. So polar bear is classified as a vulnerable species. But it wasn't matter for the Bush-government when they allowed to appropriate 30 million hectares at Chukchi-sea for offshore drilling.
Secondly step to Australia: the Great Barrier Reef is the world’s biggest coral reef. As the UNESCO site mentions about: The Great Barrier Reef is a site of remarkable variety and beauty on the north-east coast of Australia. It contains the world’s largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc. It also holds great scientific interest as the habitat of species such as the dugong (‘sea cow’) and the large green turtle, which are threatened with extinction. But in connection with global warming the temperature of the sea is getting higher and also pollution endangers the reefs.
Thirdly let’s jump into Africa. It was shocking for me that only 50.000 lions living free in Africa. The typical reasons are farmers’ attitude. They need more pastures and they hunting the lions. But they kill them indirectly too: when they get a new pasture, the animals which can be food for lions (buffalo, antelope, gazelle, etc) must leave the place (or die of hunger). Illegal hunting is also dangerous for lions.
And the last one is a building: Taj Mahal. Every day thousands of tourists visit this monument, they touch the walls and their breathe is dangerous for those old walls but also acid rain is a big problem in that area.
