Dear member, First of all: Let me wish you a happy new year 2008!

Every 1st of February, there is something very important in cafebabel.com's life: it's our 7th birthday! Remember, the first version of cafebabel.com was launched by Erasmus students in Strasbourg on 1st February 2001. That was the birth of cafebabel.com as the first European online media!

CELEBRATING 7 YEARS OF EUROPEAN JOURNALISM ON THE INTERNET

Now we are celebrating 7 years of cafebabel.com, which means 7 years of European journalism on the internet. But we won't stop here: many projects will be there for you in 2008, our platform for a European public opinion is ready for you to express, exchange and debate with other Europeans!

OBJECTIVES FOR 2008: INVENTING THE FIRST COMMUNITY BASED MEDIA!

Save the Date! On May 2008, we will launch our new website: cafebabel.com will be entirely become a web 2.0 platform with the community integrated on our homepage! New layout, videos, comments to the articles, personalized profiles etc… This will be our new CAFEBABEL MEDIA.The community is ours. Let's use it! Today, over 3 000 babelians have already updated their profile on the community. For 2008, let's bet we'll have 10 000 registered babelians! By the way, do you have your profile on the community? If not, sign up now! Exciting projects for our readers:
- continuing “Europe on the ground”, our successful city project.
- launching “Babel Reporters”, which will be the first European Press Agency. Check out the Babel Reporter blog!
- launching “EUDebate 2009”, a new platform to express, exchange and debate for the EU-elections 2009.

ANNIVERSARY EVENT: CAFEBABEL.COM IS ON SECOND LIFE!

To mark the occasion we will launch a photo exhibition on Second Life, featuring young Europeans. Donato di Bello, a renowned Italian artist working for Gucci, Prada and Ferrari, has shot a series of unique photographs using a unique technique showing the flow of movement. His artwork "Vol de langage" illustrates the mobility and freedom of this new generation of Europeans: the Eurogeneration.

Come to Second Life and join this unique exhibition on Avalon Island!  The exhibitions is starting from 1 February. We will inaugurate it on 1 February, 6 PM (Paris time). Participation is free, all you need to do is to download and install the program Second Life and to create your avator. Celebrate with us on Second Life!
