“Big brother and big Sister” in Georgia

25 students and children and children deprived of care began relationship together. They became sister and brother after casual pooling.

Organisator of the project is NGO “Youth for Free Georgia” and the supporter is IREX. Children are living in “house of Future”. There are visiting their big sisters and brothers, at weekends. They together are visiting nature, cinema, or other different places. As they said, they are always getting into contact with together; they always know what they do.

Sachino Vardosanidze is one from other volunteer students; they are participating in the project. Serjika is his small brother. Sachino suddenly decided, to have new brother. Idea came from his Friend, from NGO “Youth for Free Georgia”. He thought, that he could make happy one more child – “I haven’t real brother. I want to have real feelings with him, like with real brother. I know, I have to call him frequently, to walk with him. We are talking about our stories”. – said Sachino.

9 years old Giviko hasn’t sister. About 2 years he is living in the children house. He is there because of family conditions. His parents don’t live together and they can’t be with him. He has small real brother, who is undergoing a course of medical treatment in the Hospital. “Always I wanted to have a sister. When I saw Mariam, I thought my sister should be like her. Then she became my sister and I’m very happy.” Mariam is student also, she has one real brother, but she’s trying to attract attention to Giviko. She thinks that this project should help the integration of children deprived of care in the society. The project will finish after 2 weeks, but new sisters and brothers are going to continue their relationship in the future after the planned project.
