Four years after her Oscar nomination for After the Wedding, Danish director Susanne Bier will be back at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre on February 27, with her new drama In a Better World, vying for Best Foreign Language Film.

The film has a good chance to snag the coveted statuette, having just won a Golden Globe in the same category less than two weeks ago.

Just like After the Wedding, the story of In a Better World was co-developed with Anders Thomas Jensen, who then wrote the script.

Bier described the film to Cineuropa: “It focuses on Mikael Persbrandt’s character, an idealistic doctor working on a humanitarian mission somewhere in a refugee camp in Africa. He wants to do the right thing but is being tested by events and we see how far this can go.”
