She’s just turned 90, and Her Majesty Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, “likes” this. She celebrated by offering 50,000 pounds a year to a “Head of Digital Engagement”.

The official website of the British Royal Family posted a job offer for the position last week. Place: Buckingham Palace. Duration: 37.5 hours per week. Annual holiday: 33 days. Salary: between 45,000 and 50,000 pounds a year dependent on experience. And as a special treat for all millennials: an indefinite contract.

The ideal candidate should have good experience in website creation and managing popular social media profiles. They must stand apart in their creativity, technical knowledge in the field of media, and managerial skills – as they will soon be leading a “small team of digital media specialists”. Their main roles would include promoting the British monarchy and representing the Queen on social networks. In numbers, that’s 150,000 YouTube subscribers, 2 million Twitter followers, 345,000 Instagram users and 3 million Facebook fans.

It’s not such a difficult task, seeing as since the beginning of her reign, Elizabeth II has stood apart from other popular British monarchs. In a poll organised in 2014, she was named the most beloved person in the country – 17th most beloved person in the world. That’s ahead of, among others, Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey.

So if you know your way around the Ascot racecourse or which Instagram filter is most flattering for corgis, this could have been the job for you. Unfortunately the deadline passed on the 24th of April – so you’ll have to wait until the next offer to become the Royal Tweeter
