11 German (co)productions at the Hamptons IFF

Germany will be present at the 16th Hamptons International Film Festival (October 15-19) with a total of 11 productions and international co-productions. Hans Steinbichler will compete for the Golden Starfish with his feature film My Mother, My Bride and I. The documentary competition of the same name will be showing the German/Chinese co-production The Red Race by Chao Gan.
The World Cinema section will be presenting Uwe Janson’s Werther, starring Hannah Herzsprung, as well as the co-productions Black Ice [trailer, film focus] by Petri Kotwica and Amos Gitai’s One Day You’ll Understand.
Films of Conflict and Resolution will show the feature films Heart of Fire (Germany/Italy) by Luigi Falorni and Snow [making of] by Aida Begic, as well as the documentary The Heart of Jenin by Marcus Vetter and Leon Geller.
Germany is also represented in the festival program with three shorts: Gil Alkabetz’s A Sunny Day, Jolanka Hoehn’s Ungebrochen and Was Weiss Der Tropfen Davon by Jan Zabeil.
Hannah Herzsprung will be honoured as part of Breakthrough Performers: Rising Stars from North America and Shooting Stars from Europe. This event promotes promising international up-and-coming talent and is considered a launching pad for the US market. This year sees European Film Promotion attending for the first time with three Shooting Stars.
The HIFF awards generous prizes in the various program sections. It ranks among the most renowned film festivals on America’s east coast and enjoys established relationships with US buyers, distributors and journalists.
