18th October 2012 -- Mediterranean Journalist Award goes to...?

On 18 October 2012 the Euro-Mediterranean Journalist Award of the Anna Lindh Foundation will be awarded for the first time in Berlin.

Chaired by the French phliosopher Edgar Morin the international Jury will have the hard task to choose 5 winners out of the 403 applications received this year for the categories of print press, television, radio and new media, and a special category which will be attributed to the best journalistic work on the theme ‘’the role of citizens and civil society in building democracies and pluralistic societies’’.

An Expert-Roundtable Spotlight on Migration: Responsible Media Coverage will take place on the same day and venue from 4 p.m to 6 p.m, and will gather more than 40 experts from the Anna Lindh German Network and renowned journalists from the Euro-Mediterranean region. The Media round table will constitute the introductory event of the Anna Lindh German Network’s Common Action for 2012.

The award ceremony will be opened by Minister of State in the Federal German Foreign Office, Cornelia Pieper and the President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, André Azoulay and moderated by the journalist and board member of Reporter without Borders, Astrid Frohloff.
