This year’s Power to the Pixel: The Digital Distribution and Film Innovation Forum in partnership with the Times BFI London Film Festival (LFF) will launch a unique Project Forum that is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.

The Forum, which will launch on October 23 during the LFF, will allow creative talent and producers to bypass the traditional theatrical led model, meet new finance partners and tap into the changing behaviour and tastes of audiences by examining online, mobile, mobile and interactive models of distribution. The projects to be presented at the Launch that will feature at next year’s Forum are Yomi Ayeni’s Breathe and Jamie King’s Dark Fibre(both UK), and Arin Crumley’s As The Dust Settles and Lance Weiler’s Him, (both US).

The event will also launch a Think Tank comprising invited experts who will discuss the future of independent film and digital media strategies. Post the LFF, the discussion will continue online in an open forum.

Liz Rosenthal, Director of Power to the Pixel said, Power to the Pixel aims to inspire and enable dynamic new partnerships – we’re excited to bring together some of the world’s most pioneering filmmakers, innovators and entrepreneurs who are creating exciting new opportunities for independent film.”

LFF Artistic Director Sandra Hebron added, “The Festival is proud to be partnering with the expanded Power to the Pixel again in 2008. It is a unique and much-needed forum to discuss and debate the future of independent filmmaking, distribution, and exhibition - something which we and our audiences obviously take a key interest in.”
