La Forteresse to screen at Vienna

Fernand Melgar’s La Forteresse (“The Fortress”) – which won the Golden Leopard in the Filmmakers of the Present section at the Locarno Film Festival in August – will screen at the Viennale 2008 (October 17-29). The film takes an in-depth look at life in a centre for asylum seekers.
The Austrian festival will present another Swiss documentary: The Mother by Antoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov.
This cinematic portrait of a Russian woman bringing up her nine children won awards at the Visions du Réel International Documentary Film Festival (Switzerland) and the Leipzig Film Festival.
The Viennale line-up also includes Kazakh director Sergei Dvortsevoy’s Tulpan (co-produced by Zurich-based Cobra Film) and Jean-Luc Godard’s In Praise of Love (2001).
