Germans out in force at Flanders

The Flanders International Film Festival in Ghent will be held this year from October 7-18. Twenty-three German films and co-productions will be shown at the 35th edition of the festival, where the focus is on music as a dramaturgical element.
A Hero’s Welcome by Brigitte Bertele is the German title in official competition.
Other films competing are the co-productions Delta [trailer] by Kornél Mundrczó and Ben Hopkins’ The Market [making of].
Hayo Freitag’s The Three Robbers, Dennis Gansel’s The Wave [trailer], Andreas Dresen’s Cloud 9, as well as the co-productions Snow [making of] by Aida Begic and Tulpan by Sergej Dvortsevoy, will be shown as Festival Previews, out of competition.
World Cinema is presenting the Serbian/German co-production Love and Other Crimes [making of] by Stefan Arsenijevic.
The shorts I Don’t Feel Like Dancing by Evi Goldbrunner and Joachim Dollhopf and Summer Sunday by Sigi Kamml and Fred Breinersdorfer will screen in the Prix UIP Ghent section.
The experimental section Look Apart will be showing various works by Karl Kels as well as the Austrian/German co-production Who’s Afraid of Kathy Acker by Barbara Caspar. Trip to Asia: A Quest for Harmony by Thomas Grube is screening in the Eye Tunes sidebar.
Director Dresen has been invited to serve on the festival's international jury.
