EU Information Relay Office opened in Konya

A new EU Information Relay Office was inaugurated in Konya on September 23rd, in cooperation with the EC Delegation in Turkey and Konya Chamber of Industry. The opening ceremony took place with the participation of the Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, Ambassador Marc Pierini; the Vice President of Konya Chamber of Industry, Mr.
Tahir Şahin; the Deputy Governor of Konya, Mr Nevzat Dalkiran; and Konya Mayor Mr Tahir Akyürek along with NGOs, local and national media members and occupational associations. With the opening of the new EU Information Relay Office, the number of EU Information Relay Offices in Turkey has reached 14. The Information Relay Office will provide the people of Konya with EU-related information and answer their questions. It will also organise seminars and conferences specifically for students, local media, youth, women, business circles as well as civil society organizations; and also undertake various cultural and artistic activities such as exhibitions related to the EU-Turkey cultural dialogue. After the opening ceremony at the Konya Chamber of Industry, an iftar dinner was served at the historic Horozlu Han restaurant which was followed by a performance of mystic (tasavvuf) music and hymns.
