what to do in Paris this week?

2008 is here, the celebrations are over now! Let’s get back to our good habits and explore the cultural side of Paris… Conference :  Central and Eastern Europe dynamism confronted with the worldwide financial crisis, Tuesday 8th January 5pm – 7pm This conference is organized by the CERI and presided by Jacques Rupnik.

It will be divided in two parts:

-          Fast development and catching-up of the Central and Eastern European countries (Jean-Pierre Pagé),

-          Russia’s economy is starting a new phase: first effects of the public development strategy (Jacques Sapir).

Gulliver Allwood, les Voyages de Gulliver at the Centre Tchèque, 11th January from 7pm (music starts at 8.30)

Gulliver Allwood, a saxophone player (among other instruments) who works on many projects going from blues, to jazz along with electronic music is playing at the Centre Tchèque. Worth discovering!

Exhibition :

 Résonances I After war Photography: France – Germany 1945-1955, Goethe-Institut, until 17th February

This exhibition is aimed to tell the history of Photography. For this first occasion, the Jeu de Paume (http://www.jeudepaume.org/) asked Ute Eskildsen, conservator of the Photography department of the Museum Folkwang of Essen, to present a project in collaboration with the Médiathèque de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine of Paris. This project gives a crossed look on German and French collections.
